This reflects in part a prototype problem as argued by Vigo, Matentzoglu, Jay & Stevens (2019). Too many ontology authoring tools remain prototypes that are not widely used by groups beyond a narrow domain scope. Tool maturation requires funding such as was the case for Protégé tooling."
