Michael is Director of Research and Development for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry division at ThermoFisher Scientific in San Jose California.  He leads a small skunk-works research team exploring science-driven information based developments to drive and accelerate scientific research.  Michael has a substantial track record in life science in both the fields of genomics and proteomics and is the author of a popular mass spectrometry analysis tools such as SIEVE and RawMeat.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Michael is the ThermoFisher representative for the Allotrope Foundation and leads the Mass Spectrometry working group. Allotrope Foundation is an international consortium of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and other scientific research-intensive industries that is developing advanced data architecture to transform the acquisition, exchange, and management of laboratory data throughout its complete lifecycle.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
With a doctorate in Physics from Carnegie Mellon, Michael has research the fundamental structure of matter (in particular, two-photon interactions) at high-energy physics laboratories around the world.  He is also an avid Ashtanga yoga practitioner and certified instructor.&lt;br /&gt;
