Sam is working in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Waikato.

Sam has recently completed his PhD thesis entitled "Statistical relational reinforcement learning."

Statistical Relational Reinforcement Learning is the process of an agent (a computer-controlled entity, virtual or otherwise) learning how to solve a problem/s by exploring the problem domain and learning which actions to perform within the domain that will maximise the reward received for completing the problem. The domain may be constantly changing and non-deterministic, making this task difficult for the agent.
