OpenOntologyRepository: OOR Development Workshop-VIII - Tue 2012_05_22

This is our 8th OOR-dev workshop, a workshop series devoted to the discussion and synchronization of the various development efforts toward the OOR system and platform. Among other agenda items, this workshop will provide the opportunity for code contributors to compare notes on "adding tabs" (as a follow-up to our last OOR Architecture & API Workshop - OOR/ConferenceCall_2012_05_08 - devoted to discussing the merits of "tabs" and other related issues.)

Topic: Getting OOR Development Going - Take-VIII

Session Chair: Mike Dean (Raytheon-BBN)

Agenda & Proceedings

Archives:

1. Meeting called to order:

  • Mike Dean takes the chair and welcomes everyone
  • Peter P. Yim volunteered to take notes
  • review and adopt agenda

2. Roll Call:

  • see above
  • welcome and intro of new member(s) (if applicable)

3. Key items for review and discussion today:

  • code contributors to compare notes on "adding tabs"
    • Mike Dean: have not had a chance to do actual work, but did review PaulAlexander's updated documentation, which seems to be quite comprehensive now - see: http://palexander.posterous.com/extending-bioportals-rails-ui
    • Ken Baclawski: Maximo's "Keeper" was in SOAP, while BioPortal web-services is RESTful ... I (Ken) have code that can handle both SOAP and REST
      • Ken & Maximo will deploy that code to, in a sense, re-implement the despatch mechanism, which will be able to take care of this (REST vs. SOAP) problem ... the plan will be to have this code being independent of the BioPortal codebase
  • discussion on how we can continue to engage the other potential code contributors
  • coordinate near-term and medium term OOR development efforts

4. Revisiting our "Most Critical Tasks At Hand" list ...(which we haven't reviewed for a while now) ... defer to our next OOR-Team call 2012_06_12

5. Schedule Next Meeting & Adjourn:

  • Call adjourned at: 9:50 am PDT
