Marcelo Xavier Guterres

My name is Marcelo Xavier Guterres, PhD. I am a professor and researcher at the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) in Brazil, where I coordinate the project AIRDATA – Artificial Intelligence for Aviation Data Analysis, developed in partnership with ANAC (Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency), DECEA (Department of Airspace Control), and SAC (Secretariat of Civil Aviation).

The AIRDATA project aims to build an integrated platform for aviation data analysis using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI techniques. The system is designed to support strategic decision-making in the aviation sector by calculating international indicators (e.g., GANP and GASP) and identifying trends and anomalies in flight operations. We believe ontologies play a key role in ensuring semantic interoperability across data sources and in modeling complex domain knowledge.

I have a strong interest in applied ontologies, especially in the context of civil aviation, and I am enthusiastic about the possibility of engaging with and learning from the Ontolog Forum community.
