Ontolog Forum
Paul Brown
Paul Brown is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Leeds, with additional funding from the [dstl]. He is researching how ontology can be used to support safety analysts, whose job can involve trying to understand systems that don't yet exist. The job has high cognitive demand, requires significant expertise, and mistakes can be extremely costly. The domain is ill-defined and the task is creative. As an ex-school teacher, Paul is making use of ontology to support pedagogical methods to facilitate these analysts.
Paul has a bias towards reasoning with situations, particularly situation calculus. He is an avid Prolog and Logtalk programmer. He's also interested in ontology beyond the semantic web, indeed it would often be foolish to publish such sensitive information as a safety analysis on the web.
