Sue Ellen Wright is a Professor of German and a member of the Kent State University Institute for Applied Linguistics, where she teaches computer applications for translators and German to English technical translation. She is chair of the American Translators Association (ATA) Terminology Committee and is ATA certified for German to English translation. She is active as a terminology trainer and consultant for companies and institutions implementing terminology management in localization environments.

She is active in the national and international standards community (ASTM International and the International Organization for Standardization) and chairs the U.S. mirror committee (Technical Advisory Group) for ISO Technical Committee 37, Terminology and language and content resources, which functions as ASTM F 43.96. She is also chair of ISO TC 37, Sub-Committee 3 and convener of ISO TC 37/SC 3/WG 1 for data elements and is project leader for ISO 12620, Terminology and other language resources - Data categories - Specification of data categories and management of a Data Category Registry for language resources and editor for the ISO New Work Item Proposal, Citation of Electronic Resources. She has been a member of the original development team for of the LISA TBX (Termbase eXchange) standard, which is now ISO 30042:2008. She also participated in the development of ASTM F2575-06, Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation, and is also a member of the TC 37 Ontology Task Force. She is the co-compiler (with Professor Gerhard Budin of the University of Vienna) of the Handbook for Terminology Management and the author of many articles on applied terminology management in industry. She has written numerous articles outlining the role that TC 37 standards can play in a variety of venues, including translation and localization, translator training, and knowledge resource management.
