I have a PhD in Analytical Chemist; MBA Technology Management, and have spent 20 years in the Healthcare Industry -- 24 in Pharmaceuticals, 3 in Medical Devices and 6 Years in the Consulting Industry (PwC, IBM, Fujitzu). I am now working on Metadata Management, Service Oriented Architecture, Controlled Terminology, Metadata Standards (ISO 11179) and creating data integration platforms, as well as Business & IT Strategic Development and Execution. A key project I am doing is in Accessing & Integrating disparate databases with biological information/concepts internally and externally.

I'm joining the community to (a) Understand how Ontologies can be used to solve "business" practical problems, (b) Develop a strategy/appraoch to link ISO 11179 to higher level terminologies and "Concepts / Contexts," and (c) learn what other group are doing and how they solved similar problems.

I am particularly interested in (i) Semantic Web Tools (includes Ontology and Search Tools), (ii) Metadata Managerment Standards (i.e.Metadata and Ontology), and (iii) Open Source Software (Finding and trying it)

... Tom, at your convenience, please edit and expand on this page so the community can get to know you better. Welcome! ... (read this if it's your first time editing the Ontolog wiki.) =ppy
