Janette Wong

Janette was a Software Engineer in RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) with an interest in using ontologies and semantic technologies. She is especially interested in how ontologies can be useful to advanced analytics. Prior to her current position, she worked as a Senior Data Architect in RBC focusing on (Big) Data Architecture and specializing in metadata including data lineage. Before her switch into the data world, Janette was an Enterprise Architect at Scotiabank in Canada during which she guided the development of application solutions based on enterprise software architecture principles and standards. While she was in Scotiabank, Janette chaired the Business Vocabulary Working Group of the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN).

Prior to joining the financial industry, Janette played a number of technical roles in the IBM Toronto Software Development Lab. Her experiences in IBM ranged from Business Process Management, Identity Management, Architecture & Design patterns, e-Commerce, and Compiler Development. As part of her work in IBM, Janette collaborated with IBM Research Labs and the academia to prototype new ideas which would benefit software development.
