Stefano Borgo is currently a researcher at the Laboratory for Applied Ontology (LOA) of the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC), part of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). After the bachelor degree he worked on the foundations of mathematics at the University of Padua (IT). Later he spent some years at the Ladseb, a former Institute of the CNR, where he has been active in the area of knowledge representation with particular interest in space and time representation and object modeling. After studying mathematics and computer science at the Indiana University (Bloomington, USA), for some years he held a post-doc position at LOA that later turned into a permanent position. His research focuses on formal ontology, logics for multi-agent systems, space representation, modeling of product, engineering functions, enterprises, and processes. He is author of about 50 international publications (conference and journal papers, edited books) and has given several invited talks in his different areas of expertise. He has been in the program committee of a number of international conferences. As a member of LOA, he is active in several national and international projects.
