Conference Call Notes
Breaking news
- UICDS (Unified Incident Command and Decision Support) - April 29th demonstration is culmination of previously planned coordinated work. The demonstration will include a live Emergency Operating Center housing multiple-groups running against a simulation / scenario.
- Let's align with use cases and standards defined within the UICDS effort.
- We'd like to be included in future demonstration.
- Contact: Chip Mahoney - Program Manager for UICDS.
- To get software development kit, we need to fill out the survey-template.
- QUESTION: What name should be put in the Company field? IRSC?, BSP?, Golden Gate Safety Network? ...
- NOTE: email from DeborahMacPherson received during this meeting stated she could not fill out survey at this time.
- SUGGESTION: Each individual wanting to connect into UICDS could send in a survey response. The overlap of answers to questions such as "Q: What standards do you use for data formats or data exchanges?" could be an added benefit.
- Peter Orzag (NEED: check spelling and add title) has stated that Government Agencies must pay-up for past postings before they can submit new postings to Grants.gov.
- He has a role of FEA integrator and is involved in the administration of Grants.gov.
- Exactly what this means and it's impact on Grant availability or timing is unknown.
Project coordination
- OpenFloorPlanDisplay first of a series of projects out-of IRSC and BSP.
- Need to know how useful the Omni-class classifications will be in real-world use for floor plan display
- Floor plan for Harney demonstration needs room classification - how smart does the classification need to be? how do we use Omni-class etc...
Contacts
- Brand Niemann - Federal Enterprise Architecture FEA and SOA based eGov
- Ontologists and Ontology Engineers: Josh(?), Mathew(?), Leo(?), others from OntologySummit2009 connection
- others coming out of OntologySummit2009 follow-up communications
Pursuit of funding
- General discussion
- For a project to get funding there needs to be an anchor-point organization
- Need alignment with an inside player to obtain funding
- Ideally partner with company who is already doing First Responder Information Display work (Examples: Honeywell, Inc. and Net Talon)
- Federal funding
- Companies need to be registered with the Central Contractor Registry under Grants.gov
- Local level funding
- Take it to the local levels and understand there needs (what do they need to do their job better, faster?)
- Show best practices in sample implementations that could be readily transferred into real use
- Industry consortium funding
- Not deemed likely unless through existing consortium with money set-up for demonstration, particularly since membership is often a requirement for funding eligibility
- Given the economy, not much is being given out from Industry for out-side groups to show proof-of-concepts.
- Recommendation
- Focus pursuits at local level
- Market based on specific needs and how project work can address those needs
Demonstrations
- Harney Building floor plan
- St. Mary's Hospital - safety
- Real-time data display of building information
- BIM Storm for San Diego
- kickoff was last Friday
- 4-6 workshops to follow
- wrap-up - June 10,11,12
Time line
- Topic not covered
Pop-up information
