Ontolog Forum
Karl Hammar
I am a lecturer in computer technologies at Jönköping University, where I develop and manage the Software Engineering and Mobile Platforms bachelor program. I’m also a computer science researcher, focusing on Ontology Design Patterns for the Semantic Web. My research concerns methods and tools for usefully employing such patterns in different ontology engineering scenarios, a problem which is studied from both technical and a usability-oriented perspectives.
The first stage of my PhD project (in Swedish the Licentiate or PhL degree) concerned the development of quality criteria and associated quality indicators for Ontology Design Patterns. The latter half of my PhD project extended upon this work by developing methods and tooling to simplify the development and use of high-quality Ontology Design Patterns. Subsequently I have begun exploring challenges in ontology visualisation, modularisation, and the decoupling of ontology interface and implementation.
