2. Roll Call:

3. Status / Discussion of developing issues:

  • Outstanding Issue Update: (from last call)
    • submit last year's communique to Applied Ontologies Journal [attn: Michael Grüninger, lead author]
    • Leo's input now with Michael Grüninger, once those change are done, Michael should just submit [Peter will send Michael a note.]
  • issues with registration - Deborah MG
    • Steve to send message out about late registration [attn: Peter to send action reminder to Steve]
  • Discussions:
  • status review of the online discourse
    • refer to content committee call proceedings
    • still need to get some of these thoughts into the summary pages ... Michelle will follow-up at the next call.
      • State-of-Art - work still outstanding
      • Architecture - work still outstanding
      • Quality-Gatekeeping - in great shape
      • Ontology-of-Ontologies - in progress
  • status review on the F2F-workshop planning and preparation
    • status of the F2F agenda - see: OntologySummit2008/OrganizingCommitteeMeeting_2008_04_21/FaceToFaceAgenda
    • Steve: we are now getting a bigger room (because of the bigger participation)
      • Steve will double check to ensure adequate power supply and wireless Internet access. [attn: Steve]
    • slides due tomorrow 4/22 (email to Michelle with copy to Peter) for final sync-up review on Thu 4/24
  • "Demo evening" - we will feature this as a casual evening event at the hotel on Mon 2008.04.28; participants can sign up to give demonstration of their current Ontology repository and registry work, or just spend the time to see those demos or network with other participants. NIST will pay for the room. No coffee or refreshment (as things stand.)
    • champion - besides Frank (who would have been ideal) ... let's try Ken Baclawski who is also on the logistics committee -- Steve will contact Ken on this - Ken confirmed!
    • Peter will set up a wiki page that interested parties (who have a demo to make) could sign up on - Ken has this started already - see: OntologySummit2008_Demonstrations
    • Ken Baclawski who will be the point person for the Mon 4/29 "Demo Evening" is joining us at this call to talk about the arrangements for that segment
    • anyone who has registered by Fri 4/25 will get time allocated to the projector - more like 5~10 minute slots; preference given to live demos rather than slide-demos;
  • Michelle / Peter: (ref. new rulings at NIST, coffee will not be served for the workshop; but people could buy themselves coffee at the cafeteria, which is close enough to the meeting venue) maybe we could get a sponsor to sponsor the coffee etc. <-- agreed that we'll try to conclude by this organizing committee call
    • decided we'll just have people buy their own coffee or refreshments from the cafeteria themselves (it will be just across the hall.)
  • Registration deadlines!
    • Steve: hotel (reduced rate rooms) cut-off Sun 2008.04.13; NIST pre-registration closes on Mon 2008.04.21

    • please do draft work at: OntologySummit2008_Communique/Draft
    • Leo & Mark's communication to the content champions is out - see: http://ontolog.cim3.net/forum/ontology-summit/2008-04/msg00018.html
    • Leo: with luck, draft going out tomorrow, invite comments and input by Fri 4/25, and take those into a next level draft to go into the F2F workshop
    • Leo & Mark: still need a short summary from the content champions - Michelle to push for that in the content meeting
      • Peter: keeping the OOR-team effort at arms length from the summit communique
      • Leo: agree, we should not get bigged down by implementation details in the summit intellectual discourse - separating the science and the engineering
      • Michelle: who is the auidence
        • Leo: the world ... but we probably can't device one message to address everyone
      • Steve: for the broader audience, let's make sure we include something about "benefits"
      • Leo: useful to include pointer to last two year's communiques
        • Leo & Mark: please email input about the communique to us, and to the entire community, actually
