Agenda & Proceedings
1. Meeting called to order:
- Olivier Bodenreider took the chair and welcomed everyone
- Peter P. Yim volunteered to take minutes of the meeting
2. Roll Call:
- see above
- Peter announced that David has resigned from the organizing committee
3. Urgent Issues:
- Olivier: in addition to trying to definite the "what" we should also try to define "what for" in the discourse. We may have more success in the latter to engage the other.
- Peter: we are losing both organizing committee member and key conveners (e.g. David & Christiane)
- Deborah: it is difficult to keep up, even when one is interested
- Olivier / Steve: a survey and better developed wiki pages should help
- Peter will work up a draft of the survey later today,a and will circulate it to the organizing committee for review, and then bring it up to the broader community for comments and suggestions on the Feb-15 Ontolog session (ConferenceCall_2007_02_15) before rolling it out (hopefully fairly soon after that)
- Leo pointed out the their has not been any distribution (nor archived messages) from the [ontology-summit] list since 1-Feb-2007
- Peter to look into that
- getting the community-specific discussions going:
- see (communities enumerated): http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OntologySummit2007_DefinitionsOfOntology#nidTIS
- and (champions we have in mind): http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?OntologySummit2007/OrganizingCommitteeMeeting_2007_01_30#nidSZQ
- suggested actions from the 2007.02.06 call:
- Ivan: consider asking people to identify what community they belong to
- Nicola: we catalog, and map out the framework
- Peter: ask various communities to put together a glossary of their ontology (or ontology-related) vocabulary
- Steve / Nicola: ask various community representative to where they think they fit in
- try getting Tom Gruber to present his view some time soon, that is going to help
- (update) Peter: Tom's invited talk at Ontolog has now been scheduled for 1-Mar-2007
- have David champion the web 2.0 community dialog
- have Ivan champion the semantic web community dialog
- New suggestions:
- Peter suggests: create an online survey to collect input
- Peter also suggested we consider building a Protege-based ontology and knowledgebase to tackle the input
- Steve suggests we should stay simple first, and use a spread sheet instead (at least in the beginning)
- Peter also suggested we consider building a Protege-based ontology and knowledgebase to tackle the input
- Peter suggests: devoting part of the 15-Feb-2007 Ontolog weekly call to do it with Summit conveners
- see draft agenda for ConferenceCall_2007_02_15
- Peter suggests: create an online survey to collect input
- assigning wiki editors
- volunteers: Charles Turnitsa, Kurt Conrad, Ken Baclawski, (added:) Bob Smith, ... (need more, hopefully from our community champions)
- protocol & editor coordination - Peter: suggest we try to engage the conveners and devote a good part of the 15-Feb-2007 Ontolog weekly call to do it
