    • see: Ontolog Discussion
    • more work/discussion on OWL
      • Adam: need OWL & SWRL for OWL ontologies to really be useful
    • Nicolas: becoming clear that discussions on reasoning would be useful
      • Nicolas: Grit and Denker at SRI has just release a OWL/S editor for Protege-OWL - having them come to join in the discussion will be great

5) Communications, logistics, & work protocols issues

  • change of the regular Thursday conference call time - only 2 people suggested a change - disposition?
    • Nicolas: accomodating the W3C SWBP participants should be attempted
    • consider accomodating European attendance
    • Kurt: let's bring this up at the planning committee
    • Peter: people need to feel strongly enough to make a post about it and propose something
  • Job opening(s) available - how about a "Job Openings" or "Classified Ad" page on our wiki that we allow talent searchers looking for ontologists (and related expertise) to make short posts themselves? t/b discussed - reviews pros and cons. (--ppy/2005.04.27, idea from an email he received from someone who is searching for the 'perfect ontologist'.)
    • Nicolas: can we setup a semantic filter to discern and block abusers -- this could even be a discussion topical
    • Nicolas: try to be aware of the legal implications too
    • Kurt: let's take it up at planning

6) Follow-ups from previous calls

  • wonderful discussion last week - vote of appreciations to NicolasRouquette!
    • what worked?
      • Peter: it's been great
      • Kurt: glad they are captured in an audio archive ... that is really helpful
    • what needs improvement?
      • Nicolas: could improve on getting the prep material ready earlier ... and to "get to know" the participants before the session
      • too few people are paricipating real time
      • Kurt: we could go around have people set expectations and requirements
      • Peter: more lead time, invite people who could seed the discussion with subject experts (and have them do a few minutes overview of their work)

7) Current Project Status Report

  • Status CCT-Representation and UBL-Ontology project work
  • Status of Protege-KIF project work
    • Kurt gave a short debrief on the work session at SMI on Mon 2005.04.25
    • lesson: practice is quite different from theory (not that this is anything new)
  • UBL liaison report - no report

8) project work session / discussion

9) New project proposals

  • starting a wikipedia-like effort on this wiki - champion needed: David? (--proposed:ppy/2005.05.05_07:05_PDT)
    • start with putting stubs on key terms, and an initial explanation or definition (and leave out the latter)
    • maybe even kif axioms eventually, who knows
    • Kurt: let's take this up on planning
    • Peter: we can link over to wikipedia (and other wikis') content now through our wiki's InterMap feature
    • Peter: Champion solicted - once we have a champion, the chances of getting the project off the ground increases dramatically!

10) Sponsorship and funding - no discussion

11) Other business - no discussion

12) Next meeting date and adjourn

  • call adjourned 11:46am PST
  • next call will be on Thu 2005.05.12 starting at 10:30am PST
