- an effort to collaboratively develop a "common basis"? - ref: http://ontolog.cim3.net/forum/ontolog-forum/2007-05/msg00114.html
- a natural followup from the UpperOntologySummit
- potential leadership could come from John F. Sowa, Pat Cassidy, ...
- Doug: let's ping Steve Ray to see if NIST can take on the leadership to implement this
- Ken: could collaborate with the OBO Foundary work, which is similar
- Duane: support of registry/repository software - will find out more in a meeting tomorrow
- Peter: this would complement well with the CIM3 offer on hardware/infrastructure
- Duane: we could set up a registry/repository, then define roles and call for volunteers ...
- Peter & Duane will need to have a discussion (offline initially) to clarify IPR issues
- All: We should try to report this back to this [ontolog-forum] list, and try to get enough interest to stage a special session for discussing this, to institutionalize this as a "project", and taking this forward
- Duane / Ken: possibility of putting some AJAX software into the wiki
- Duane: e.g. auto-page updates
- Duane: we could also consider the Adobe FLEX, now that it has been open-sourced
- Ken: one of my students is working on something similar
- Peter, Ken, Duane, Karlsruhe-folks & team members should get together in a collaboration on this
- consider calling up another special session
- Peter: how about a new mini-series on informal ontology - shared understanding, concept maps, dialog maps, visualization, knowledge management, ...
- Peter: thinking of collaborating with NASA/JPL on this
- possibilities of a session on collaborative ontology development
- some recent progress at Stanford / Protege can be interesting
- this could be one or two sessions ... probably in August 2007 - Peter will be championing this
9) New project proposals.

- please respond to the above thread, or e-mail Duane Nickull and Peter P. Yim if you are interested.
- Duane: so far, this is not a formal request from OASIS yet, but would like to see if Ontolog members would like to participate / team-up on this:
- solicitation for comments will probably come out in Sep.2007
- hope to see Ontolog provide a collective "review and comment" to the work
- Core team interested in this work: Pat Hayes, Doug Holmes, Ken Baclawski, Peter P. Yim, FrankMcCabe, Duane Nickull, ... Lisa Colvin, Ken Laskey (added: 2007.06.24) ... let's formally put this together as an "Ontolog project"
